| Q: Why do I get "530 - Authentication Required" errors
when sending email? |
|
Normally this error is resolved by enabling SMTP Authentication in
the email software program you use to send email from your desktop computer.
You must also enter a valid username and password for your SMTP server.
When you send email from your desktop computer, the email is first sent to an SMTP (outgoing mail)
server which then sends the email to it's final destination. However, before the SMTP server will accept
the email, it must first authenticate you (the sender) to make sure you are allowed to send email through
it. This is necessary to prevent spammers from sending email through an SMTP server.
Note : If you are using your ISP's SMTP server, please contact your ISP to find out which SMTP server,
username and password you must use. Some ISPs will not let you send e-mail through outside accounts.
If this is the case, you might be relegated to using web mail. |
